Rubrik Unveils New Data Protection for Azure Blob Storage At Microsoft Ignite
Rubrik has been ramping up its services for Microsoft products.
Rubrik, which provides zero-trust data security solutions, unveiled its latest offering, a cyber resilience solution for Microsoft Azure Blob Storage on Tuesday at Microsoft Ignite.
The new service for Microsoft Azure Blob storage provides autonomous discovery, classification, and context on Azure blob storage data, Rubrik said in a news release.
With it, users can constantly monitor sensitive data and receive early warnings of emerging threats.
Customers can also use Rubrik’s new service to identify and remediate redundant data, potentially helping to reduce cloud costs.
The new service also allows customers to recover after a disaster scenario with a clean copy of their data “using a range of recovery patterns, including object-level and whole container.”
“Rubrik Zero Labs recently found that 70% of all Rubrik observed data in a cloud environment is object storage, which potentially has far lower security coverage compared to on premise and SaaS data,” said Anneka Gupta, chief product officer at Rubrik in a news release. “More shocking is that nearly 90% of that data is estimated to be either text files or semi-structured files, representing data types that may vary in being machine readable or covered by prominent security technologies and services. That’s a double whammy - until now.”
Generative AI and large language modes are producing an “explosion of data that needs to be secured,” said Aung Oo, general manager of Microsoft Azure Storage. “Protecting that torrent of critical AI data at scale in cloud object repositories like Azure Blob Storage requires a purposefully designed cyber resilience solution that Rubrik delivers,” Oo said in a news release.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Rubrik has been ramping up its partnership with Microsoft, as of late. Last month, the company announced the release of its Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for Microsoft 365 Copilot. The company also became part of the Microsoft Content AI Partner Program in 2023.
The new data protection service for Azure is generally available now.
