TLS And SSL Certificates Will Expire Faster In 2026. Here’s How AppViewX Is Responding

AppViewX’s new capabilities come amid growing concerns that shortened certificate lifecycles will place further burden on enterprises.

Earlier this year, the CA/Browser (CA/B) Forum decided to reduce the maximum validity term of SSL/TLS certificates.

The certificate lifecycle shortening will happen in phases. By March 14, 2026, TLS certificates’ lifespans will shrink to 200 days from its current 398 days. The Domain Control Validation (DVC) reuse period will also be reduced to 200 days.

By March 15, 2027, the maximum certificate lifespan will shrink to 100 days, as will the DCV reuse period.

By March 15, 2029, the maximum certificate lifespan will be reduced to 47 days and the DVC reuse period will go to 10 days.

AppViewX, a provider of certificate lifecycle management solutions, recently announced enhancements to its AVX ONE certificate lifecycle management platform in response to the upcoming changes.

Some of the new enhancements include:

AppViewX’s new capabilities come amid growing concerns that shortened certificate lifecycles will place further burden on enterprises; many already struggling with certificate management. There is also growing awareness of the need for organizations to prepare their infrastructures for quantum computing, which can be used by bad actors to hack current encryption standards.

In July, DigiCert released its Trust Pulse Survey report, which found that 45 percent of survey respondents said that their organizations experienced “service downtime” from certificate-related incidents in the last year. The report also revealed that 31 percent said their organization experienced financial losses between $50,000 and $250,000 due to expired certificates. And 18.5 percent said their loss exceeded $250,000 due to certificate issues.

AppViewX says the new enhancements come at a time when enterprises need to “future-proof” their certificate and post-quantum computing strategies.

“Our customers need a future-proof solution that transforms regulatory pressure into operational excellence,” said Paul Trulove, chief product officer at AppViewX, in a news release. “This release underscores our commitment to rapid time-to-value, measurable ROI, and innovation that helps enterprises succeed in the age of 47-day certificates and a post-quantum computing world.”
