The new features provide “actionable insight” to “thinly stretched” IT teams, an Auvik exec said.

Auvik, a provider of network management solutions, on Thursday announced new capabilities in its Auvik Network Management (ANM) and Auvik SaaS Management (ASM) platforms.
The new features are designed to meet the increase in the number of devices and apps IT departments must now manage with the proliferation of hybrid work and SaaS app adoption by employees, Auvik said in a news release.
Smart Alert Suppression has been added to ANM. It provides intuitive alerting, Auvik said. The new feature also pairs with Auvik’s network mapping functionality, delivering “added clarity to network outages, eliminating redundant alerts related to downstream devices and giving technicians more relevant topology insights,” Auvik said.

A unified SaaS management dashboard is the other announced new feature that enhances the ASM platform. The dashboard can pinpoint shadow IT that may be running within the organization and can provide information on security, expenditure, provisioning, and usage.
“Auvik is delivering a brisk pace of innovation across our ANM and ASM platforms,” said John Astorino, chief operating officer, Auvik, in a news release. “Smart Alert Suppression and a centralized client dashboard for SaaS management equip today’s thinly-stretched IT teams with more actionable insights and a comprehensive view of network alerts to help teams more efficiently address pain points and alerts that are time-sensitive,” he added.
The recent announcements of these new capabilities that are built to further streamline and automate network monitoring tasks, highlights the company’s focus on “frictionless IT,” of which Auvik CEO Doug Murray spoke about in an interview with MES Computing last year.
“Simplicity, that is absolutely our thing," Murray said at the time.
"Our mission is to focus on something we call 'frictionless IT.' We focus on IT operations management with a focus on the midmarket and the SMB (small to mid-sized businesses) as well," he said.
"Frictionless IT is a state in which friction caused by constant change in IT environments is minimized and change is actually reframed as a tool to accelerate everyone's potential. This includes automating as many IT processes as possible, putting the IT team in a better position to embrace change and quickly adopt new technologies and SaaS apps, but also allows them more time to focus on more strategic IT projects,” he added.
"There are a lot of ways that we can assist with the day-to-day life of an IT manager," Murray said.
