The US States Most And Least Obsessed With AI
A new report reveals where AI is used the most and the least, and what most users search for regarding AI tools.
Which state uses AI the most? It may come as a surprise that the designation is not a state with heavy-populated urban areas.
The state with the most average monthly Google searches for AI-related topics is Wyoming, according to a report from Smallpdf, a provider of PDF document management tools.
The report data was based on an analysis of the average number of monthly Google searches in every state over the period from November 2023 to November 2024 related to over 900 search terms for AI and productivity solutions, such as “organization app” and “time management helper.”
Wyoming users averaged 94.03 monthly Google searches related to AI and productivity per 100,000 citizens.
Delaware ranked second with average monthly searches for productivity and AI information accounting for a 92.95 average search volume per 100,000 citizens in the state.
Coming in third is Alaska with 91.35 average monthly searches on the same topics per 100,000 residents.
The state least interested in productivity and AI, according to the report, is Mississippi, with an average monthly search volume of 61.91 per 100,000 residents.
“It is fascinating to see how different states across the US use technology and AI to improve productivity,” said Moritz Werner, Smallpdf CEO, in a news release.
“Interestingly, the ranking seems to be dominated by states with some of the lowest populations in the US, such as Wyoming, Vermont, and Alaska. This could be influenced by a number of factors, such as the percentage of the population working or studying from home and the percentage of white-collar workers,” Werner continued.
“The top searched terms across the US, notes app, reminders app and homework helpers, suggest a focus on tools for organization and academic help. This highlights technology as a way to stay on top of tasks and juggle busy schedules,” he said.
“Using technology to boost productivity has become an essential tool to help with time management, improve organization, and reduce procrastination. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or even a parent, there are tools out there that can help everybody,” he added.
