Landbase CEO: New Assistants Represent AI’s ‘Next Level Of Wow’

‘What would have previously been done by humans in terms of researching or navigating is now functionally done by AI,’ says Daniel Saks.

AI has reached “the next level of wow,” said Daniel Saks, CEO of Landbase, an agentic AI-fueled platform that helps businesses create and optimize their go-to-market strategies.

There are two recent developments that have Saks making this declaration: the release of Perplexity Comet and OpenAI GPT Agent.

Both AI assistants may seem to have similar functionality, but they work in different ways, and both AI solutions represent a potentially seismic shift in how AI will be used, something that Saks said most are not realizing.

With Comet and GPT Agent “businesses can tell ... AI what to do, and that AI can execute a workflow across a browser. What would have previously been done by humans in terms of researching or navigating is now functionally done by AI,” Saks explained in an interview with MES Computing.

The emergence of these new AI assistants “marks the moment where agentic AI and agent workflows are very real,” Saks said. “I think you’re now going to see 10 times the amount of use cases that can be done through the browser.”

Perplexity Comet requires users to download a proprietary browser while ChatGPT Agent works within existing browsers.

“What Perplexity Comet does is it allows you to search for something, and then it can actually take over your browser and show you how the agent or the AI is doing that search on your behalf in a different window, whereas ChatGPT Agent is actually within anywhere you’d use ChatGPT, so whether that’s on Chrome or Safari, you don’t need to download its own browser, but it actually shows you in a virtual window what’s happening when it’s using the browser,” Saks said.

Saks’ passion for emerging technology is evident in his track record. He co-founded AppDirect, a B2B marketplace, in 2009.

He launched Landbase nine months ago after what he saw was a big issue with businesses—finding their next customer and growing their business.

“From my experience at AppDirect, one of the things I found is that more and more tools have been needed in data sets in order to run go-to-market campaigns. And Landbase was really founded to help automate and orchestrate a lot of that work,” he said.

Landbase’s customer segment includes enterprises and the midmarket.

“We definitely have a lot of use cases of midmarket companies. You could think of like a medical device company that wants to target doctors with a specific device over email, LinkedIn and phone, and our AI agents can find the doctors'’offices and contact info. They can draft the messages and execute the campaigns with support of a human or approval. So [the midmarket] is the perfect target segment for us,” Saks said.
