The Channel Company Launches MESComputing.com To Fuel Midmarket IT Transformation

Monday marks the official launch of MES Computing—a new digital publication for the IT leaders driving and shaping the technology strategies of midmarket businesses in North America.

Brought to you by the IT channel and technology experts of The Channel Company, MES Computing was designed as a resource for the often-underserved midmarket IT leadership community, including CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, chief architects, senior IT professionals and future IT leaders.

"Midmarket IT challenges and opportunities take the spotlight with MES Computing. This new digital publication will empower midmarket IT leaders with the knowledge they need to refine their IT strategies, select the right technologies for their organizations, and grow professionally," said Adam Dennison, vice president of MES, at The Channel Company.

The new site builds on The Channel Company's Midsize Enterprise Services business—including its family of U.S.-based events, its 800-plus-member-strong MES IT Leadership Network and its IT Essentials newsletter—as well as its 50-year-old Computing digital publication, the leading end-user-focused, high tech media brand in the U.K.

MES Computing zeros in on the needs of midmarket IT leaders, delivering deep-dive analysis into the latest technology trends, providing data-driven research, connecting them with midmarket-focused technology vendors and bringing the voices of preeminent IT decision-makers to the forefront.

"Digging deeper, going beyond the headlines, MESComputing.com responds to an urgent need within the midmarket, which is hungry for a time-trusted source for everything midmarket," said John Regula, CIO of Bucks County, Pa., and a member of the MES event advisory board. "MES Computing is uniquely qualified to deliver information in a manner that is both clear and concise."

Advisory board member Robert Field, CIO of Trinitas, stressed the importance of focusing on midmarket IT leaders and "having a place for us to have our voices heard and championing for the mid-segment market."

U.S. Midmarket Companies Are Thriving

The U.S. market for midsize enterprises is vast. As of 2023, there were nearly 200,000 midmarket businesses in the private sector, employing approximately 48 million people, according to the "Year-End 2023 Middle Market Indicator" report by the National Center for the Middle Market (NCMM).

Moreover, the midmarket continues to bloom. Revenues increased for 83 percent of midmarket companies at an average rate of 12.4 in 2023, according to NCMM's year-end report. Fifty-nine percent of midmarket companies increased the size of their workforce last year at an average rate of 9.6 percent. While that rate declined post-pandemic, it remained well above the midmarket's average of 4.8 percent employment growth, NCMM reported.

MESComputing.com launches at a critical time for midmarket IT leaders. While many midsize businesses are thriving, those IT decision-makers who wish to see their companies continue to grow in 2024 face a host of challenges, including residual supply chain issues from the pandemic, issues with staff retention and attrition, and uncertainly over the geopolitical stage, according to NCMM. Yet, this market segment and the IT leaders in it remain resilient.

"My fellow CIOs would be wise to bookmark MESComputing.com and use it as a wisdom source for your technology decisions," Regula said.
